Two Daffodils

This site is about stained glass in general, but in particular about American art glass and the pieces I create with this medium. Comments are invited that are relevant to the work. I have had quite a few comments so far ( mostly spam ) which I have to delete, during this process I have inadvertently deleted some comments which I had allowed and I would like to send my sincerest apologies to those who contributed these,

Irises at Slade

This is the full size panel ” Irises at Slade ” made with Uroboros Art Glass codes : 60 – 70, 60 – 543, 65 – 17, 65 – 145 . I took my inspiration for this panel from ” Van Gogh’s ” famous painting, trying to capture the colour and energy in my design.

Deep Red Tulips

An exhibition piece depicting a field of tulips.

This piece of stained glass is purely imaginative. The possibility of finding a field of tulips growing in Ireland during mid January is pretty slim.

David worked with straight lines when designing the border, “I don’t normally do straight lines, but it sort of works here”.

Dimensions including the frame : width 375cm x height 1060cm

Daffodils

DaffodilAn exhibition piece.

“I always wanted to design a daffodil stained glass window”. David derives inspiration from out and about around our home in Slade, Co. Wexford.

Many photographs were taken and elements of each one became the design for this piece.

A lot of work went into this piece, the colours are vibrant together and the whole piece really reminds us of spring.

Dimensions including the frame : width 375cm x height 1060cm

Two Cockatoos

2 cockatoosThis is a stained glass panel made with Uroboros art glass using the copper foil method of construction. It is a copy of a mosaic panel entitled ” Two Sulpher Crested Cockatoos ” by Tiffany Studios New York, attributed to the artist ” Joseph Briggs “.The original panel is housed in the ” Haworth Gallery in the U.K. which holds the largest collection of Tiffany Glass outside the U.S.A.
