When using art glass you always seem to end up with odd pieces that you simply have to get into a panel, which is the case here, The background glass dictated everything, the colour of the irises compliments it so well. Only enough for a small panel though.

Pansies Door Panel

These Pansies Door Panels were inspired by the work of Kaffe Fasset https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kaffe_Fassett and were my first attempt at producing original work. After spending a few years making reproduction Tiffany Lampshades I was keen to try my own designs.

I used Uroboros and Youghiogheny glass for the pansies and concentrated on the shapes and colors of the blooms, deliberately cramming them together. The inner panels were made using the copper foil method .The green border was then added using lead came framing the flowers and balancing the overall effect.

Remembrance Poppies.

Remembrance Poppies

This is a Poppy panel made with Youghiogheny stipple glass, the design was draw as a sketch and then just adapted for stained glass. This method seems to work best for me, it keeps the design fresh and free flowing rather than the rigid lines of traditional stained glass.

The Green Man

It seems appropriate, given the time of year to share ” The Green Man ” with you. This piece is made with Youghiogheny and Uroboros art glass in a pendant design. Originally a pagan symbol, the green man is often found on churches and of course public houses. It is also a popular image for stained glass artists

Comments Two Daffodils

Here is a small panel ” Two Daffodils ”  as I like to post an image rather than just writing a few paragraphs. Daffodils always seem to lift the spirits .

This site is about stained glass in general, but in particular about American art glass and the pieces I create with this medium. Comments are invited that are relevant to the work. I have had quite a few comments so far ( mostly spam ) which I have to delete and during this process I have inadvertently deleted some comments which I had allowed. This was totally unintentional and I would like to send my sincerest apologies to those who contributed these.

The Shamrocker

The Shamrocker

St. Patricks Day today so this piece seems quite apt. It is made as a pendant, the background glass is a Youghiogheny Stipple, the shamrock leaves and the black pieces are Bullseye Glass and the skull is made with a Uroboros Granite backed and cut using a bandsaw.
